Michael Phillips

Michael PhillipsMichael Phillips is a independent consultant and collaborator of Creara International.

Michael is a recognized authority on the design and implementation of sustainable energy projects and programs. He is a widely published author whose work focuses on the development and financing of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. He has advised international financial institutions, private businesses, and national and local government agencies on the preparation and implementation of individual projects as well as energy policies, regulations, and programs.  He has worked for a range of clients including the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, Global Environment Facility, U.S. EPA and the World Resources Institute.   He is an instructor on renewable energy project development at the APPA Institute (American Physical Plant managers Association) and was the founder and editor of the Clean Energy Finance newsletter from 1996 to 2000.

In Latin America, Mr. Philips has done work in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia,Mexico, Costa Rica, and Jamaica.  Michael Philips held a White House assignment at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Policy Office and was a professional staff member in the U.S. House of Representatives’ Resources Committee.

He holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Pitzer College, Claremont, California and a Masters in City and Regional Planning with a Finance concentration from Cornell University.
